Kakaban Island sits northwest of Maratua Island and is part of the famous Derawan Archipelago in East Kalimantan, Borneo. The island is uninhabited and covered in dense jungle, hiding a hidden lake that formed thousands of years ago when the island uplifted from the sea. Over time, marine water became trapped, creating a brackish lake that evolved into an entirely unique ecosystem.
